CEO Announcement

As with everything in life, all good things must come to an end eventually. But we know that the next chapter will be just as great for Valley Credit Union, the communities we serve and all our members!

After leading the Valley Credit Union team for six years, Chief Executive Officer Darla J. Card has announced her retirement. Darla has worked at Valley for twelve years, serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Loan Officer before accepting our CEO position in November 2014. Her 40+ years of experience has served Valley and our members well, and we thank Darla for her leadership and commitment to the organization and the communities we serve.

As we begin to look ahead to the new year, Valley Credit Union’s Board of Directors are pleased to announce the selection of Casey Klein as Chief Executive Officer, effective January 15, 2021. Casey started working at Valley in 2008 and was appointed Vice President of Branches in April 2017 after serving as Branch Manager of our Downtown, King Avenue and Heights branches. Casey holds a business degree from Montana State University and has 15 years of banking experience. Under Casey’s leadership, Valley looks forward to many more years of success for our members and the communities we serve.

Darla’s last day at Valley will be Friday, January 15, 2021. While under normal circumstances we would encourage everyone to stop into the Downtown Branch to wish her well and congratulate her, we are foregoing a retirement celebration that is open to the public in order to keep our staff and our members safe.

Congratulations to Darla on her retirement— you’ve earned it! And, congratulations to Casey on his new role as Valley’s Chief Executive Officer!

Treat Your Elf Loan

Stop! There is no need to use those high interest credit cards for your holiday shopping this year if you are short on funds. Valley's "Treat Your Elf" loan has rates much lower than most credit cards. Need funds for something unrelated to the holiday season? No worries, as you can still use the funds for car repairs, kitchen appliances, washer/dryer, home improvements, the list goes on and on.

Do not wait long as this deal will not be around forever!

Toys for Tots = Success!

We recently hosted our fourth annual holiday toy drive benefiting the US Marine Corps Reserve’s annual Toys for Tots program. Each year the program distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy gifts.

Through the credit union’s efforts and support from the community, we were able to surpass our initial goal of $1,000 worth of toys. With a $1,000 donation made by the credit union, over 650 toys were collected and over $2,800 was donated by the community. These funds went toward the purchasing of gifts to guarantee more families have presents under the tree this Christmas.

“This program is one we look forward to hosting each year, and following the tumultuous year we have all experienced, the need for our support was greater than ever before,” said Joe Olivo, VP of Member Experience at Valley Credit Union. “With the overwhelming engagement from the community, we were able to surpass expectations and offer relief to more families in need, ensuring each child has a gift this season. It is always our desire to give back to the communities that do so much for us, and we look forward to acting as a consistent support for years to come.”

Scammers are calling people and using the names of two companies everyone knows, Apple and Amazon, to rip people off. Here’s what you need to know about these calls.

In one version of the scam, you get a call and a recorded message that says it’s Amazon. The message says there’s something wrong with your account. It could be a suspicious purchase, a lost package, or an order they can’t fulfill.

In another twist on the scam, you get a recorded message that says there’s been suspicious activity in your Apple iCloud account. In fact, they say your account may have been breached.

In both scenarios, the scammers say you can conveniently press 1 to speak with someone (how nice of them!). Or they give you a phone number to call. Don’t do either. It’s a scam. They’re trying to steal your personal information, like your account password or your credit card number.
If you get an unexpected call or message about a problem with any of your accounts, hang up.
  • Do not press 1 to speak with customer support
  • Do not call a phone number they gave you
  • Do not give out your personal information

If you think there may actually be a problem with one of your accounts, contact the company using a phone number or website you know is real.
